Martin was Education Officer for Essex Wildlife Trust working at Fingringhoe Wick Conservation Centre and nature reserve in Essex.
Martin developed an extensive programme of school science days, youth group days and weekend/school holiday wildlife discovery days which resulted in 8000 children being taught about wildlife each year.
Sadly the conservation centre is now a tea room.
In 2003, after 15 years, Martin left this post to set up Martin Rapley - Experience Science Live which later became The Bug Man.
Martin is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society and a
Fellow of the British Naturalists' Association.
As well as presenting his own shows Martin has the Animal Vision Show at the Natural History Museum in London and has presented shows/talks at the Science Museum, Kew Gardens, RHS Wisley, Down House and many other venues.
