Martin was Education Officer for Essex Wildlife Trust working with schools at a conservation centre in Essex. Martin developed an extensive programme of school science days, youth group days and weekend/school holiday wildlife discovery days which resulted in 8000 children being taught about wildlife each year.

In 2003, after 15 years, Martin left this post to set up Martin Rapley - Experience Science Live.

Martin is a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society and a Fellow of the British Naturalists' Association.

As well as presenting his own shows Martin presents the Animal Vision Show at the Natural History Museum in London and has presented shows/talks at the Science Museum, Kew Gardens,  RHS Wisley, Down House and many other venues.

Martin also brings you The Great Bug Hunt, an annual competition for schools.
